Convert autocad DWG files to PDF

Hi,
We use Aspose.PDF for .NET in our application to convert TIFF to PDF. We have a requirement now where we would like to convert Autocad DWG files into PDF. Does Aspose.PDF support this type of conversion?

Thanks,
Muthu

Hi Muthu,

Thanks for your inquiry. I am afraid Aspose.Pdf does not support Autocad DWG files to PDF conversion. However our another API, Aspose.Imaging, supports Autocde to PDF conversion. I am moving your request to related forum, my colleague will guide you properly.

Best Regards,

Hi Muthu,

Thank you for considering Aspose products.

Unfortunately, the current implementation of Aspose.Imaging API doesn’t support DWG file format, although the API can easily load DXF files and can convert them to PDF. Please check the below linked technical articles for your kind reference.

Please note, we already have the requested feature (conversion from DWG to PDF) on our road map of Aspose.Imaging API, but we may not be able to provide it soon. The problem we are facing right now is that the DWG is a propriety format, and its specifications are private. Currently we are looking for alternative ways to parse the DWG data for conversion to PDF or images.

Availability of this feature is expected in last quarter of 2014, in meanwhile we will keep you posted with updates in this regard. We have also attached this thread to the appropriate ticket (IMAGING-32164) for tracking purposes. Please feel free to write back if you have more questions.

Thank you for the quick response. I will take a look at the referenced articles to see if we can have a workaround solution for now. But we are really interested in DWG to PDF conversion and please update me once the fix is scheduled for a specific release and date.

Thanks,
Muthu

Hi Muthu,

Upon discussion with the development team, we got to know that the requested feature is near to completion, and we could even release it right away. However, as per company policy we need to ensure that we deliver high quality features otherwise Aspose customers may not be satisfied with the outcomes they receive. Currently we are working to stabilize the build and fix different issues before the release could be published. Anyway, as per our plan we hope to deliver the feature in the 2nd quarter of 2014.

We will keep you posted with updates in this regard.

The issues you have found earlier (filed as IMAGING-32164) have been fixed in this update.
