Convert from docx to epub creates two columns

When I convert from Word 2010 docx (or doc), it created a page with two columns. How do have a single page in Word be a single page in ePub?

Trying to answer my own question: I think it depends on the reader. When I use a Nook Reader for PC it give me two columns and I can not figure out how to make it one. Very frustrating. Calibre eBook Viewer keeps everything on one page.
