Converting pdf -> docx with embedded fonts and custom encoding

Hi,

I’m trying to convert a pdf to docx. The pdf contains an embedded font with custom encoding. Even with the font installed on my system, what I get in the docx is that every character in the pdf gets replaced by a dot in the docx.

In Word I notice that the font names associated to the dots appear with the usual PDF prefix consisting of 6 letters and the plus + followed by the name of the font rather than with the simple name of the font. No wonder, then, that Word cannot find the fonts in the system.

What am I supposed to do to make sure that text with embedded fonts appears correctly on Word? As said, the original fonts are installed on my system.

Unfortunately, since the pdf file contains sensitive information and a purchased font, I cannot include it as an attachment.

I’m on Aspose.Pdf 11.8.0.

Greetings
Mario

Hi Mario,

Thanks for contacting support.

When converting PDF files to MS Word document on system where fonts used inside PDF document are installed and resultant file is being viewed over same system, the file contents should appear properly. However in order for us to figure out the actual reasons behind this problem, we need the source file and custom fonts used inside document, so that we can test the scenario and share our findings.

For your convenience, I have marked this thread as private, so that the contents shared in this thread are only accessible to Aspose staff. Please note that all the documents shared by customers are only used for testing purposes and once a particular issue is resolved, they are removed from our system. We are sorry for this inconvenience.

Hi Nayyer,

I’ll return to my workplace on Monday.

We are not allowed to give out the document that I’m trying to convert, even when kept private. However, by then I’ll prepare a pdf with fake content but using the same font and upload it for you.

Have a nice weekend
Mario

Hi Mario,

Thanks for the acknowledgement.

Please take your time to create an artifact which can help us in replicating the issue in our environment.

Hi Nayyer,

it turns out that in these days we have got other duties with higher priorities, so I don’t have the time needed to pay attention to this topic. I will hopefully have more time starting next week.

Sorry for the inconvenience
Mario
