Converting TNEF to HTML- encoding and inline images

Hello,

I am trying to convert a message sent from Outlook in TNEF format. I would like to get a HTML file with inline images in place. Is this possible with Aspose.Email?

Currently I am struggling with two problems:

1. Non-English characters are transcoded to ???

2. I don’t know how to link elements with MAPI attachments

I have tried:

1.
MailMessage mail = MailMessage.load(“message.eml”);
MapiMessage mapi = MapiMessage.fromMailMessage(mail);
System.out.println(mapi.getBodyHtml());

Not working. German letters in the text are replaced by ???.

2.
MailMessage mail = MailMessage.load(“message.eml”);
ByteArrayOutputStream stream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();

This works but inline images are missing.

I extracted a RTF file from winmail.dat and it’s codepage is windows-1250. Is there a way to get non-English characters and inline images with Aspose.Email?<!–[if gte mso 9]>

Thank you for using Aspose.Email.

The issue might be specific to your sample email file as the conversion should automatically detect the codepage and inline images be part of output as well. Could you please share a sample file with us for our investigation? We’ll look into it and assist you further in this regard.

Thank you for looking into it. In the attachment you can find this problematic sample email file (I stripped out some sensitive data). I will be grateful for the information if and how this message can be correctly processed (with correct encoding and inline images preserved). We are looking for a library which can help us processing messages in TNEF format coming from Outlook.

Thank you for providing the sample EML file.

I was able to reproduce the issue of characters turning garbage and have logged as NETWRKJAVA-33400 in our bug tracking system for further rectification by our development team. We’ll update you here once there is an update available in this regard.

With respect to images in HTML, please note that HTML only links to images via the tag and the contents of images are not contained within the HTML. If you look at the contents of the HtmlBody, you will find the following statement:

This is the inline image link in the html body of the message. If you want to save the HTML contents to an HTML file which should load this image along with as well, you can save the linked resource to disc with the same name and HTML will automatically load it as shown in the following code sample:

Thank you for your help, hints you provided were very useful.

I have one more question. Is it possible to convert Outlook message (which is in fact RTF) to HTML using Aspose.Words? If needed, with help of other tools like Apache POI-HMEF. If yes it would be great as we could use it in other parts of our application.

thank you for the code fragment. I tried it and it works but I am missing inline images in the output file. Is there a way to convert this message with Apose.Words, including inline images?
