We are currently doing a proof of concept to determine if Aspose.Slides is suitable for our requirements.
I have created a Powerpoint (pptx) template that has all our corporate styling in it, as well as containers and shapes that are already styled and only need to have the data filled in. This also includes shapes that are items in a list and therefore would have to be repeated many times (like a person list, with photo's, names, phone numbers etc).
For this, I would like to be able to copy groups of shapes to create the list, and the insert the data. Unfortunately, when I do that, styling does not get copied with the shapes and is lost (copying is done with the alternative text id method).
I can't find any examples copying shapes including style. It seems very inefficient to me if we would need to set all styling properties afterwards when copying shapes (this includes colors, borders, fonts, etc.). That takes away the advantage of being able to do the styling in a Powerpoint template beforehand. Is there no way of inheriting styling from a slide or container shape?
Basically what I'm trying to achieve is the normal copy-paste function of a group of objects in Powerpoint.
Can you please advise?

regret to share that there is no method available in Aspose.Slides presently to
copy the PPTX shapes along with styles. An issue with ID SLIDESJAVA-32924 has
already been created in our issue tracking system to provide shape serialization
support in PPTX. We will share the information with you once the feature is

I have observed the requirements shared by you and regret to share that the concerned support for copying/serializing the PPTX shapes inside presentation is unavailable in Aspose.Slides for Java presently. The support is blocked owing to implementation of unified API of Aspose.Slides (Single API for PPT and PPTX). The unified API will be available during Q1 of 2014. Once the unified API will be rolled out the concerned issue of serializing the PPTX shapes will be addressed afterwards. The concerned issue for requested feature support is SLIDESJAVA-32924 and I have linked this thread with the issue for automatic notification.
We will really appreciate your patience for this and will share the notification with you once the requested support will be released.
