Css width property not respected when converting html to docx of pdf

Hi I have an html document and I want to convert it to docx or pdf.
It seems that this conversion ignores some styles among them width style

Here is an HTML snippet:

The code to convert html to docx:

As you could see, even if the width is 80px, when converted to word it took the whole page width.

Is there anything I could do to get around this problem ?

@concord_tech This is the expected behavior. In MS Word there is no way to specify width of the paragraph and the paragraph occupy whole page width from the left margin to the right margin. If you open your HTML in MS Word you will observe the same behavior.
If I understand your requirements correctly, you need the border around the text only. If so, you can apply the border to the span of text. It will be imported as Run node and the border will be shown only round this Run node.

In fact, what I want to achieve is something else (I gave this example for the sake of simplicity).

And I want to convert it to word/pdf but I did not manage to (it seems that we cannot have only one side of a border for images), to fix this I put a top border on the span (and converted to a div) and gave it the same width than the image above but since width does not work (as you explained) the border took the full document width instead of the image width.

Do you know why border-bottom does not work for image ?
And is there a workaround to get the same result with a different html ?

I want the whole block to be inlined (so that it could be preceded or followed by text for example)

Do you confirm that inline-block is not supported ? and if it is the case, is there a workaround (I didn’t find documentation about css properties not supported by Aspose conversion, so it is hard to find workarounds by myself since I don’t know Aspose limitations)

@concord_tech The main question here is not what Aspose.Words supports in HTML, but what MS Word document format supports. In your case, I think the most proper and flexible solution would be to put the line into the image itself. For example, you can achieve this by wrapping your picture into SVG image and draw the line in SVG. Aspose.Words will read whole SVG as one shape and the line will be tied with the picture.
