Demo page showing on reports when license is legal

About once every 2 weeks reports being generated by Aspose.Cell for Reporting Services starts to create reports with the demo warning page on them. This continues until we restart IIs at which time the problem goes away.

This is causing questions and complaints from our customers. Can you please look into this and suggest a resolution.

The licensor file is in the correct place.

Hi Phil,

I think you should try the latest version of Aspose.Cells 5.2.0. Please find below the link to download the new version.

http://www.aspose.com/community/files/51/.net-components/aspose.cells-for-.net/entry269971.aspx

Please let us know in case of any issue.

Best Regards,

We are using the Reporting Services version of Aspose.Cells and currently have the latest version 1.5.3

Hi

We had checked your issue. But we cannot provide an effective solution for it. Please tell us more details for this issue and we will try solve it. Kindly response back to the following questions.

1. How many times you render reports through Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices in 2 weeks.

2. what is you run environment? We will try to produce virtual run environment at our side to test.

thanks

We render about 80 reports a day, over 1,000 in a two week period. All via the same Reporting Service but only about 20% of these using Aspose to create the report.

The last time this happened was between 28/10/2010 08:00 utc and 29/10/2010 00:00 utc. Since restarting Reporting Service late Monday it has been okay. The company was closed during this period so is not the result of activity by us. All reports are created okay, we just get the demo page showing.

Not sure what information you are after with respect to "run environment". Reporting Services runs on an Intel quad core processor. We are using SQL Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003 64 bit. The report is requested via another server using the web service interface and emailed out to the customer via this other server.
Thank you for looking into this.

Phil

This problem occurred again over the weekend. Restarting Reporting Services and the demo page is now hidden.

Do you have any suggestions to stop this from happening?

Thanks

Phil

Hi Phil,

Thank you for providing us the information. We are in process of fixing the issues. We will update you soon.

Thanks,

Hi Phil,

We have tested the issue mentioned by you. But we are unable to find the issue. Following are the information about our test environment and results:

• Windows Server 2003 x64 EN
• SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services
• Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services v1.5.3 and new version.
• Use 1.5.3.0 version to export 7200 files
• Use new version to export 7200 files
• Result: demo page is hidden

In order to work on this issue, some more information is required. Please provide us the following information:

• Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.xml file.
• License file name and position.
• Register information for Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.
• Please check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Aspose\Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices and post the key context.
• Please check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Aspose\Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices and post here the key context.
• Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.log file.

Thank you for the cooperation,

Thank you for looking into this. Please find attached Registry information

The XML file is from the folder "c:\program files (x86)\Aspose\Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services"

The licence file is called “Aspose.Cells.Reporting.Services.lic” and has been placed in the following locations in an attempt to resolve this problem.

“c:\program files (x86)\Aspose\Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services\Bin”
“c:\program files (x86)\Aspose\Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services\Licence”
“c:\program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.6\Reporting Services\ReportServer”
“c:\program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.6\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin”
“D:\program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER2008\Reporting Services\ReportServer”
"D:\program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER2008\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin"

Please advise where the Aspose.Cells.ReportingService.log file is as a search has not located it.

This problem seems to occur predominately over the weekend so I am wondering if it relates to periods of low (or no) activity rather than high activity.

Regards

Phil

Hi Phil,

We have checked the information provided by you in your last reply. There is an observation that when old version is uninstalled, the registry information of Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services is not removed.

So please try following operators.
• Manual remove the entry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Aspose\Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices] and the key context.

• Try the attached updated version (V1.5.3.7) of Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services. Copy Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.dll to the following location:
${SQL Server Reporting Services installation folder}/ReportServer/Bin folder.

• Copy Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.xml file to the following location:
${Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services installation folder}\ folder.

• Please point the license file in the following way:

By the way, the updated version can support digital signature. But only support the XLSX and XLSM formats. Please modify the digital signature parameters of Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.xml file and reference the following context.

Thanks,

This has been done, unfortunately we won’t know for certain this has resolved the issue until several weeks have passed. But you help is much appreciated.

We will be purchasing a digital certificate in the coming weeks and put this in place.

Thanks

Phil

Unfortunately this problem still exists.

On Sunday at 09:01(UTC+0) a report was created without the demo page but at Monday 00:00 (13 Dec) a report was created with a demo page and all reports since have the demo page. Restarting Reporting Services has resolved the problem (temporarily).

This does seem to be only occurring over a weekend and at that time the number of reports is significantly less.

Phil

Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.log can be found on the following location:
{Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services installation folder} folder.

If you cannot find Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.log file in the folder, please check it on location {Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services installation folder} folder security permissions. Also, give us the system information. We will analysis these information and get back to you soon.

Thanks,

Please find information attached as requested.

The main reports which user Aspose are called “ExceptionReport” and “VehicleUtilisation” (there may be others as well).

Phil

Hi ,

We had checked your provided file and tested.

We found that system throw exception when rendering ‘ExceptionReport’ report.

We think that exception causes license invalid .

Please post your RDL file here. And we will check it ASAP.

Hi,

Please let us know if you are still facing this issue.

This issue has not re-occurred in the last 5 months.

Hi,
