I have the following string that I am putting into the text frame of a shape...
"Vaughan Nelson Investment Management\vSmall Cap Value"
I want everything before "\v" to be in font size 24 and everything after it to be font size 18.

I have observed your comments and like to share with you that logically, this is not possible to set different font properties for the text in same portion. What you can do as a workaround solution is to add the text as two portions, one after another and then setting the font height of those portions, individually. Please refer to this documentation article to see how to set height of text.
