The following two documents differ only in that one has a w:docVars > w:docVar defined in settings.xml. Comparing them succeeds, but the resulting document has no docVars.

@epaulet-society Document variables are not considered during the comparison. Thus they are not updated in the empty document.
@epaulet-society I have registered your request to update document variables on document comparison as WORDSNET-24159 in our defect tracking system. Our development team will investigate the possibility to update document variables.
The issues you have found earlier (filed as WORDSNET-24159) have been fixed in this Aspose.Words for Java 22.10 update also available on Maven.
