Does Aspose.Words .NET provide for determining if a .DOC file has embedded word Versions?

I have a requirement to determine if someone has used the Version feature of MSWord when creating/saving the Word documents that pass through my process. Only documents that have N versions saved (N is to be defined as either 0, or 1 - but not yet determined) will be allowed to pass through my process.

Does Aspose.Words provie support to perform this type of test?

Hi,

Actually I don’t fully understand what you mean. What is the Version feature of MS Word and how it can be accessed via the Word’s GUI or VBA or somehow else?

We’re using MSWord 2002, SP3.

When you are working on a Word document, you have the option on the File menu called Versions. When used, this feature save a “version” of the document - a snap shot within the DOC file. As you edit the document you can continue to save “version” so you can revert to a prior version. (I assume that the DOC file simply retains deltas from prior versions in the file.).

At any rate, we have a requirement to detect when versions are found in a DOC file. If versions are found, we need to generate an error and prevent the document from continuing in our document workflow.

If Aspose handles this condition (along with the other properties that we’re already impressed with), we’re very intersted in the product.

Unfortunately, the ability to work with versions, or even defining if the document has any versions or not, is currently not implemented. I have logged this feature request as issue #3094. We will try to add this functionality in one of the next versions of Aspose.Words.

Best regards,

Do you have a rough idea on when this functionality might be released? We’re trying to complete a purchase recommendation, and the feature I described is one of my customer’s requirements for the system into which we’d be embedding a product like Aspose. We’re looking to be able to support this functionality in the next 3 months, or so.

Any insight you can provide would be helpful.

Hi,

We are looking into the issue right at the moment.

We have implemented this feature. Expect a hotfix in 1-2 weeks.

Hi,

We have released Aspose.Words 4.2.6.
