DWG to PDF - modelspace rotation impacts on layout rendering?

Hi everybody,
I have found a weird behaviour while tryng to convert a DWG to PDF.
This dwg has an extruded profile in model-space, and a single layout with border, title, a copuple of viewports and a bunch of dims and axis.

We got two problems on the converted PDF:

  • the viewports contents are not rendered at all

  • the layout borders and dims are rotated and the rotation appera to matsh the current visual rotation of the model-space. As a counter-prove, I reset the model-space view as a standard top-view and tried again to export to pdf, and the layout has been exported without any rotation.

I don’t know if the two problems are related, but I find very weird that a model rotation would cause also a rotation of the layout…

here the dwg:200000PE1427_1 - modello e layout.zip (500.8 KB)

here the resulting pdf: 200000PE1427_1 - modello e layout.pdf (2.2 MB)

I hope this will be oh help to improve your product!

Regards,

Massimo

@mcicognani,
Hello, unfortunately, we have only limited support of 3D now, I have created task CADNET-8790 to improve export for this case.

Hi Oleksii,
thank you for your support.

So that’s the reason why the vieports show nothing, I guess.

But why layout got rotated if the model-space is in a temporary rotated view?
It may happen even with 2D drawings if designer used a rotated UCS…

@mcicognani,
yes, we will look at reason in scope of CADNET-8790.

The issues you have found earlier (filed as CADNET-8790) have been fixed in this Aspose.CAD for .NET 22.11 update. This message was posted using Bugs notification tool by Oleksii.Gorokhovatskyi
