Error message "table main has a differnet number of cells than the number of columns..."

I keep getting this message intermittently when trying to create a grouping on a worksheet. If i restrict the range attribute to just the data row, everything is fine. Otherwise, if i extend the range to include the grouping tag and grouping row, i get this error message.

I have nothing on the grouping row at this time.

Help! how do i fix this??

Note: it appears to be related to having a blank cell in the row the data is displaying. If I get rid of the white space cells the problem seems to go away.
