Export Issue:- Extra empty Rows- Columns and dash is replaced with "-"

Support,

We have SQL Server 2008 R2 and using rendering extension directly to export the excel output. Facing excel exporting issue with the Aspose.Cells, Currently the version used is Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services 1.8.0

Problem Description:-

The issues we are facing are related to formatting and performance.

1. Formatting issue :- After exporting the report using excel option of Aspose Cells

We observe that the extra rows are added above each group, extra empty columns are added and the formatting of dash (-) in the amount fields is replaced by “-” (inverted commas are added). This particular output when exported using Excel option provided by SQL Server 2008 R2 works fine with no formatting issue.

2. Performance:- The Aspose Cell excel export takes almost 5-7 times more time to export the output as compared to excel option provided by SQL Server 2008 R2. Secondly, we need to use “Subscription” to generate the output when using Aspose Cell Excel option

We tried using new version released for Aspose.Cells (Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services1.9.0) by installing locally but it did not solve the above issue.

Need to fix this issue as soon as possible as we are about to go production this friday.

Hi,

Once we have any update on it, we will let you know here.

Thank you.

Hi,

We have checked your provided excel file and fixed few bugs.

Please try the fixed version : Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services (SSRS2008R2) v1.9.0.6.

Please copy Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.dll into following folder:

${SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services}\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin.

And set the value of IsAutoRowFit to ‘False’ in Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services configure file: i.e Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.xml .

============================================================================================================

<Performance value=“ON” IsAutoRowFit =“False” IsMerged=“True” IsSetStyle=“True” IsConditionalFormatting =“False”>

============================================================================================================

The parameters can improve the exported data performance.

You can find the configure file in following folder:

${Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services installation folder}.

If you still face the issues , please post exported excel files here. (including excel file for Aspose.Cells and MS )

Hi Shakeel,

1. Replaced the Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.dll with the newer version provided, which had fixed the issues like extra blank rows, columns and height of the header. Thanks for it

But, there are still formatting issues and I have highlighted in the attached excel output from the Aspose Cell. As well attached the standard excel as requested.

2. The file "Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.xml " was not present under the folder ${Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services installation folder}
The mention file was not present after tried installing the Aspose Cell on local machine.

But created the XML file provided by the tags with same name and placed under the same folder location. Not sure whether its correct. Please direct

3. The performance issue still there as the point.2 has not been successfully implemented. Need to check once done

4. We have huge data reports (like 16-17 MB) and those are not able to export using the Aspose Cell excel export option. This was problem previous as well and the output were generated using subscription. The time taken was 5-6 hrs to generate the report output.

Hi,

We have fixed issues of formatting and improved exporting performance.

Please give us detail description of these. We did not find the following two issues:

1. Freeze framing or scroll locking above this does not work properly.
2. Sometimes Report header is not displayed correctly.

Please try the fixed version: Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services (SSRS2008R2) v1.9.0.7.

Please copy Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.dll into following folder:

${SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services}\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin.

Please let us know your run results.

By the way, we keep on improving exporting performance.

<span style=“font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:“Calibri”,“sans-serif”;mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:
Calibri;mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;
mso-bidi-font-family:“Times New Roman”;mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;
mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA”>1. When
we export the report using the “Save” option provided on the report. The report
gets exported to the Aspose excel for the smaller set of data/report but, when
we try to export the huge data (16-17MB) data/report its giving below error

<span style=“font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:“Calibri”,“sans-serif”;mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:
Calibri;mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;
mso-bidi-font-family:“Times New Roman”;mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;
mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA”>(Refer the screen shot in the attachment)

1. 2. The same report tried with exporting using the “Subscription”
and this was successful exported but saw some formatting issues (Please find
the attachment) and those are highlighted in the exported excel.

1. 3. The performance is much better than the previous
but, we need to follow the following steps before getting the Aspose excel
output.

a. Need to set the property to cache the report (Report àManageàProcessing options)

b. Run the report

c. After the report is successfully scheduled, need to run the subscription

The above mention process is not feasible as this not advisable for the business user so we need the report “Save” option working to export Aspose cell excel output for huge data.

Please address this issue immediately as we are into production and has lots of pressure from client side.

For SSRS excel output please refer previous attachment.

Hi,

Thanks for updating us with your attachment and using Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services.

We have logged your comments in our database. Please spare us some time to look into your issues. We will get back to you asap.

Hi,

Thanks for your posting and using Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services.

1 - Out of memory cause saving exception when exporting the huge data.

We are solving this issue. But it is a complex issue. We are afraid, we will have to spend a long time on solving this issue.

2 - Excel difficult opens an excel file which consists lots of merge cell in the large file. So Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services does not merge cell when the number of cells more than a default value.

It caused issues which your provided in format question.

Now we update the default setting to always merge cell at default configuration.

Please try the fixed version: Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services (SSRS2008R2) V1.9.0.8.

Please copy Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.dll into following folder:

${SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services}\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin.

Please let us know your run results.

We are regularly monitoring the tickets for the performance updates but haven’t heard anything till now. Is there any support number where we can get the updates? The performance is the major issue now and need to be resolved ASAP.

The report output “Save” should be functionally on the report manger to generate the Aspose excel output as very few times we were able to generate the Aspose Excel output for the huge data.

Some of the recently found similar issues for the formatting on the Aspose Excel output on other reports those needs to be addressed ASAP. Please find the attachment “Aspose_Ticket_4.Zip” (RDL files and SSRS output and Aspose output) for the issues.

Please let us know if you requires any more information.

Hi,

Once we have some update on Performance issue, we will let you know here.

Thanks for providing us the template RDL and Excel rendering files. I have logged them against your issue id “SSRS-40090”. We will look into it and get back to you soon.

By the way, could you try to use our latest version/fix: Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services v1.9.0.15 and let us know your feedback.

Thank you.
