Gridweb seems to change filetype of document

Hi,

We have a strange problem using gridweb.

The document (type xlsx) is loaded as byte stream from the database as follows:

Dim data As Byte()

… Function to get byte array from database …

data = DirectCast(dt.Rows(0).Item("DOC_DATA"), Byte())

Dim ms As New MemoryStream(data)

mygridweb.ImportExcelFile(ms)


Then the user is working with the gridweb (adding values manually, copying values from excel). After that the document is saved to the database as follows:

Dim ms As New MemoryStream()

mygridweb.SaveToExcelFile(ms, Aspose.Cells.GridWeb.Data.GridSaveFormat.Excel2007)

… ms.ToArray is saved to the database. …

Now we have the following problems:

When the document has been modified (loaded and saved) multiple times it is displayed as shown in image “display.png”.

When we export the document from the database as xlsx file (as it is supposed to be) it cannot be opened with excel. If we change the suffix to xls it can be opened. Somehow the filetype is changed. Additionally, an evaluation warning has been added as new worksheet although Gridweb and cells license is set in the Init function of the control.

Unfortunately, I was not able to reproduce the problem in a sample application. But we have this problem on two different client systems and we don’t know what is happening. Do you have any idea?

As we only write a byte stream to the database and load the byte stream from the database I guess that there is something wrong in the gridweb control. Is there a way to turn on some logging on the internal processes of the gridweb control?

Thanks for providing us some details.

I am afraid, we have no clue why you are facing this issue. By the way, could you try to save to an Excel file at the same time after you save to database (as XLSX file format) to check if the file has the same problem (as per your corrupted file in the Database).

In case your saved file is also corrupt, I am afraid, we need a sample project (runnable) with Aspose.Cells.GridWeb v8.7.2 along with the sample file(s) and other dependencies (you may use MS Access database (if possible)) to reproduce the issue and to thoroughly investigate the problem cause.
