How to insert a line break

Can you guys please tell me how to insert a line break ? Suppose I have two sentences, say , for example
This is sentence 1
This is sentence 2

How can I add these portions in a paragraph ?
Adding these portions with carriage returns results in PPTEditException. So I replaced the carriage returns with the Ctrl-K characters. I was able to write the PPT , but the second sentence did not appear in the saved presentation at all. Am I missing something ? Please help.

For carriage return and line feed characters, split your string and add the resulting strings in textframe as separate paragraphs
