Hello,
our company is currently evaluating alternatives for migrating our old form-software (proprietary client-based software).
Since we are moving towards a Sharepoint 2010-infrastructure the natural choice seems InfoPath 2010. Especially InfoPath 2010 web-forms, to avoid the company-wide deployment of Office 2010 Plus.
Now there are very specific requirements regarding the printing-output of our forms. Requirements which InfoPath is not capable of fulfilling (and is not intended to be AFAIK).
So, the idea is to use Apsose.Pdf for that matter. Simple thought, placing a button in a webform and the click-action processes VB that creates a PDF and delivers that to the user.
Is that a possible way? Are there different solutions to that? Is there any experience in that matter (Sharepoint, Infopath, Aspose) and are there best practices available?
Or is our thought completely wrong?
Thanks and kind regards!
Hello Frank,
Thanks for considering Aspose.
Aspose.Pdf for .NET is a product which provides the capabilities to generate PDF documents from scratch as well as it offers the capabilities to manipulate/edit existing PDF documents. It also provides the capabilities to populate data inside PDF forms and also you can use it to extract information out of PDF Forms. However as per your requirement of converting InfoPath files into PDF format, I am afraid this feature is currently not supported. For the sake of implementation, we already have logged it as PDFNEWNET-20165 in our issue tracking system and our development team is working hard to support this requirement.
Besides this, when it comes to SharePoint products, we are planning to roll out a new product named Aspose.Pdf for SharePoint which will be integrated to SharePoint products and will provide the leverage to convert documents uploaded over it into PDF format. Please be patient and spare us little time. As soon as the product becomes available, we would be more than happy to update you with the status of correction. In case I have not properly understood your requirements or you have any further query, please feel free to contact. We apologize for your inconvenience.
