Is there any way to find the XY coordinates and page # for anything (a piece of text, a merge field, a book mark, etc)?

I will need these coordinates after converting it to a PDF so that I can grammatically insert and image (a signature jpeg) at that exact location.

Thanks for your inquiry.

I’m afraid those features of our rendering engine are not yet exposed publicly so you canot find the page number or location of a node on a page. I have linked your request to the appropriate issue. We will inform you as soon as there are any developments.

In the mean time you can use the work around here to find the page number of any node: https://forum.aspose.com/t/77148

I’m afraid there is no work around for finding coordinates of a node on a page. Instead you can most likely achieve what you are looking for by using a different technique. For example, instead you could:

  • Insert the image into the original document using Aspose.Words before you convert to PDF.
  • Add a bookmark around the position you want to insert the image at, then find this bookmark in the output PDF and insert an image at it’s location.

Are Word bookmarks converted to PDF bookmarks during conversion to PDF?

Thanks for your inquiry. Yes, bookmarks in Word documents are converted to bookmarks in PDF. Moreover, if you need them appear in the navigation panel in PDF document, you can specify the following option:
https://reference.aspose.com/words/net/aspose.words.saving/outlineoptions/defaultbookmarksoutlinelevel/

The issues you have found earlier (filed as WORDSNET-2978) have been fixed in this .NET update and this Java update.
