I used the code in the demo to generate an MPP file. My local operating system has Project 2013 installed and I was able to open the generated MPP file without any issues. However, when I tried to save the file, an error occ urred, as shown in the following image:

Cannot open file.
- Check that the file name and path are correct.
- Check that Project recognizes the file’s format.
Cannot open a Project file created in a version earlier than Microsoft Project 98.
If the file is from an earlier version, open it in that version, click the “Save As” command on the “File” menu to save it in MPX format, and then open the MPX file in an earlier version of Project. Using this method, project data can be imported but formatting will be lost.
