Linux vs Windows

Hi, I am a developer trying out Aspose words. My use case is to convert Word documents into pdfs. Is the library platform independent ? Is there a preferred operating system that Aspose provides better quality ? I have currently implemented using the Java sdk running on a RHEL5 linux, do I get better quality if I run on windows ?

Thanks,
Pradhan

Hi,

Thanks for your inquiry. Please note that Aspose.Words class library is platform independent and it requires TrueType fonts when rendering documents to fixed-page formats (PDF, XPS or SWF). For more information, I would suggest you please read the following articles:

http://www.aspose.com/docs/display/wordsjava/How+Aspose.Words+Uses+True+Type+Fonts

Moreover, Aspose.Words for .NET and Aspose.Words for Java are “twin brothers” products and together cover most of the popular development environments and deployment platforms.

Both Aspose.Words for .NET and Aspose.Words for Java run on Windows, Linux and Mac OS operating systems. Aspose.Words for Java is available for Java 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7 and will run in any place where Java is installed.
