Maximum number of merge fields per document

Could you tell me the maximum number of merge fields you can have in a word document? I know this is very limited in MS Word versions.

Aspose.Words do not impose any limits on the number of merge fields in a word document.

However, I will be grateful if you provide any reference about MS Word limits in that respect.
