Message stuck in Queue

I’m evaluating this component and have “successfully” sent a message. The problem is that the message is just sitting in the Queue. This is running on a Windows 2003 Server. I am sending the email through the local SMTP Virtual Server and have relay set up to allow local (that server) access only. Any ideas why my message isn’t actually being sent?

Dear dthayer,

Thanks for your post.

Yes, you are right. It seems something wrong about smtp virtual server, since the message was sent to the queue. Maybe we need to check the setting about the smtp virtual server, or use another smtp server instead. Here I found a trouble shoot for smtp virtual server, hope it can help.

Thanks for the response. I changed the SMTP server to a Windows NT Server box with the same SMTP settings and the email goes through without a problem. Neither box if behind a firewall and neither have Exchange installed on them.

The error message I get in the Event viewer on my Windows 2003 Server box is "Message delivery to the host failed while delivering to the remote domain for the following reason: The semaphore timeout period has expired.".

I also get the NDR email stuck in the queue with the message "Unable to deliver message to the following recipients, due to being unable to connect successfully to the destination mail server."

I've done several searches, but can't seem to find any information on how to resolve this issue? Do you have any other ideas?

Hi, dthayer,

Why not try to increase the semaphore period ?
