Hi Muhammad,
Thanks for the quick reply. What you suggest is actually how my application works. It opens a pre-prepared, empty .mpp file and then adds a number of new tasks to it using Aspose.tasks.
The application currently outputs the project as an XML file. I tried changing the ProjectWriter TasksdatFormat from XML to MPP but the output file is empty. Maybe I’m missing something. Do you have a code example that demonstrates opening an empty mpp file, adding a task and then writing it as an mpp file?
Thanks, Ian
Hi Ian,
We are updating the documentation and examples. In the meantime, you can use the attached example. This example opens an empty MPP project and adds Tasks, Resources and TaskLinks etc.
Please note that current version supports MS Project 2007 MPP format. Other versions will be supported in the coming releases. I am not sure if you have created MPP file in a different version of MS Project. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Best Regards,
Hi Muhammad,
You’ve identified the issue - my empty MPP file was created with Project 2010. I’ve changed it to a Project 2007 file and I can now create tasks and write MPP files OK. That’s a big step forward.
Will 2010 MPP file write support be in v4.4.0?
Best regards, Ian
Hi Ian,
Currently, MS Project 2010 MPP write support has been planned for 4.5.0 release. We will let you know if this issue gets resolved earlier. Sorry for the inconvenience.
