I'm just checking when the next release will be available.
Also, when do you expect to be able to support reading from an MPP file, making changes to the model, and writing back the changes to an MPP file. I see a lot of work on 'reading'. The notes do not say 'writing' yet.
I really could use some idea of your overall plan!!

New version of Aspose.Tasks for .NET is scheduled to be released by the end of next week. We will update you once the new version is available.

Q3 is dedicated for project recalculation and MPP writing functionality whereas Q4 is dedicated for MPP writing functionality. Hopefully this feature will be implemented within 2011.

Many thanks for the response. I really appreciate your sharing your plans ... I'm not very good at mind reading ...
From my point of view, I prefer to have a way to do round trips -- first than do the recalculations. The most critical area is reading and writing the files ... now the MPP for all versions.
If I have confidence that I can read / write MPP and XML ... I can continue my development ... the delays are really painful.
Note: I already have included some re-calculations so this is not as critical for me. Also XML does not include all of the objects that the MPP file has ... and does not require a merge operation to re-integrate with an open mpp file.
So I (IMHO) vote for completing the writing MPP files as quickly as possible so I can start to test round trips in this format. This has already been started on a restricted scale.

I’d also like to register my vote for prioritising MPP writing support in Aspose Tasks. We just evaluated the product in order to use with an application that needs to create MS Project files with task data. I assumed the reason we could only output the file in XML format was due to the evaluation version limitations. Having now purchased a licence I find we can still only write files with tasks in XML format.
Native support for writing MPP files can’t come soon enough for us.

Hopefully, Aspose.Tasks for .NET 4.0.0 will be released within this month. As far as MPP writing support is concerned, it already has the top priority and our developers are working on this feature. MSP 2010 MPP format has been planned for 4.2.0 release, MSP 2007 MPP format has been planned for 4.3.0 release and MSP 2003 MPP format has been planned for 4.4.0 release. I’m currently evaluating the API, but unless I’m able to write the MPP files its unlikely I will purchase. It currently supports writing XML, but we can develop this functionality ourselves pretty quickly; it’s the MPP file format which we are willing to pay for.

Due to some internal issues, MPP write support issue was rescheduled and now this feature is planned for 4.4.0 release. We will let you know once our developers add MPP write support for a particular version (2003, 2007 or 2010). Sorry for the inconvenience.

Does v4.3.0 allow you to create a brand new project file in .mpp format or does it only allow you to open and update task details in an existing .mpp file?

Hi Ian,
MPP write feature is in beta mode and it allows you to update existing MPP files. You can create an empty project MPP file in MS Project and then add tasks or resources etc. using Aspose.Tasks for .NET if you want to create a new project.
Hopefully, you will be able to create new files from scratch (without using MS Project) in the coming releases.
