OLELink changed (Word table imported in Excel)=> document still shows old values after Update Links

Hi Aspose team,

my scenario is that I have one Excel document (table.xlsx) in which I imported table from Word (table2.docx).

If I change ObjectSourceFullName from Table2.docx to Table.docx change is done and next time when I open Table.xlsx file I am asked to update links. When I say that I want to do that Excel still points to values from original Table2.docx file so Update Links does not work.

I attached sample project and documents. Just run pdf.exe and it will create output.xlsx file with reference to table.docx but even after you update links it will still show values from table2.docx file.

Also if you compare Data => Edit links between Table.xlsx and output.xlsx file you will see that output have Update set as Manual where original file has Update=Auto. How can I enforce that in output.xlsx I have Update=Auto?

Do I need to do something else or this is a bug?

If you go to output.xlsx document structure you can notice that xl\externalLinks it was 2 files (externalLink1.xml and externalLink2.xml) where there should be only one.

It looks like that Aspose.Cells does not update existing link but creates new one and that is causing the problem.

Hi,

Thanks for your posting and using Aspose.Cells.

We are working over your issue and logged it in our database for a fix. We will look into it and resolve this issue. Once the issue is fixed or we have some other update for you, we will let you know asap.

This issue has been logged as

  • CELLSNET-44661 - OLELink changed (Word table imported in Excel) document still shows old values after Update Links

Just for info - I tried versions down to 8.5.0 and it did not work :(.
Unfortunately this is really burning as it is killing critical functionality for my application so if you have any option to provide quick solution that will be extremely appreciated (btw. I'll also purchase enhanced support where I'll report this issue).

Thanks a lot,
Oliver

Hi Oliver,

As we have already logged your issue with an id “CELLSNET-44661” into our database. Could you spare us a little time (3-5 days)? Hopefully, your issue would be fixed before the end of next week or so.

Once we figure out your issue, we will share the Download link for the new fix here.

PS. I do not think you need to prioritize this issue (as it is already in Progress) by using enhanced support service.

Thank you.
