Hi,
We’re looking at using your tools to implement some excel reporting but when trying to save the worksheet we get an error saying that there is an unsupported PivotTable source type.
I understood that PowerPivot and PowerQuery support was added back in 7.3.5
I’ve included the stack trace below for information
Thanks

Hi,
If you still find the issue, kindly provide us sample code (runnable) or preferably a sample console application (you may zip it prior attaching here) to reproduce the issue on our end, we will check it soon. Also provide your template file(s) here.
Thank you.
Hi,
Please find attached the code for a sample console application and worksheet that is demonstrating the problem we’re having.
If you open the solution file and click run you should see the problem straight away, this is using the latest version available to download from your website (8.3.2.1)
Thanks

Hi Shakeel,
Any news on this yet? It’s really quite urgent for us.
Thanks
Hi Phil,
Thanks for your posting and using Aspose.Cells.
We are afraid, there is not any update for you regarding this issue. However, we have logged your comment in our database against this issue and requested the development team to provide some fix or ETA for this issue. Once, there is some news for you, we will let you know asap.
Sorry to be a pest, but we’re really desperate, is there anyway of knowing when your developers might look at it or anything?
Hi Phil,
Thanks for your posting and using Aspose.Cells.
We have already logged your comment. Please spare us some time (around a week or two). Normally, if the issues are simple than they are resolved in this time span. If the issues are difficult to be resolved then it might take longer. The Power Pivot related issues are very rare, probably, your issue is the 2nd or 3rd such issue, so it might not be easier for the development team to fix this issue in a little time. So please wait till we give you further update.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Hi
Is there any news? I am also getting this error.
Thanks
Oren
Hi Oren,
Thanks for your posting and considering Aspose.Cells.
We are afraid, there is no update for you regarding this issue. However we have logged your comment in our database against this issue and requested the product team to provide some ETA or any other update (plan) for this issue. Once there is some news for you, we will let you know asap.
We are also interested in PowerPivot support. Currently Aspose.Cells throws an exception if we try to refresh all pivot tables and a PowerPivot has been added to the Excel sheet. The exception details: “Aspose.Cells.CellsException: this data source is not supported”.
Hi Rasmus,
I am afraid, the current implementation of Aspose.Cells APIs do not support creation and refreshing of Power Pivot. We have already logged this feature in our database for further analysis and implementation but we cannot share an ETA at the moment. We have requested the concerned member of the product team to share the timelines for this feature. As soon as we receive updates in this regard, we will post here for your kind reference.
Hi,
We have evaluated your issue further. I am afraid, we can’t support the external data sources of PivotTable. This is due the fact that external data sources have various scenarios and it is also very complex on its own. We suggest you to kindly get the external data and save it to the worksheet, then create a PivotTable based on the Worksheet’s data in the same Workbook.
Thank you.
Hi,
We are not using external data sources, even though the exception indicates this.
I will create a separate support thread and provide an example for you.
Hi,
Thanks for providing further details.
Sure, you may start a new thread and give us complete details with sample application (runnable) and other files etc., we will check and help you soon there.
Thank you.
I see this thread has been inactive for sometime, Does aspose support Power Pivot table, if so what is the api to refresh the data.
Hi Sundarraj,
I am afraid, Aspose.Cells APIs still do not support creating, manipulating or refreshing the PowerPivot tables. I will discuss this matter with the concerned member of the product team and share the feedback here.
Hi again,
I have checked with the concerned member of the product team, and I regret to inform you that we currently do not have an estimated time frame to support the requested feature. However, we are investigating the diverse scenarios that need to be taken into account while implementing the said feature.
That said, I would request you to create a new thread with the request so that we can attach the appropriate ticket for tracking purposes.
Hello,
Are there any updates on the support of Power Pivot & Power Query (creation/refreshing) for the newer versions in 2025?
Thank you!
@pavle.aleksov
We deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused to you. Aspose.Cells APIs still do not support creating, manipulating or refreshing the PowerPivot tables. I am afraid that we have to suspend this task until we can find relevant rules or documents that can help resolve this issue in the future. Once we have any new information, we will share it with you.
