Problem converting non-PDF documents into PDF/A documents

Hi Support,

We tried to convert non-PDF documents into PDF/A documents and came up with some problems. We tried on both Windows and Linux platforms. We have prepared a result sheet which explains the input document, platform and the result of the test case i.e. P for Pass and F for Fail. We first convert the non-PDF document into PDF document and then convert that PDF document into PDF/A document. We have the license of Aspose Total but we are currently using the Java libraries only. The version of each Java library is listed:

- aspose-barcode-6.0.1.0-java
- aspose-cells-8.3.0-java
- aspose-diagram-4.0.0-java
- aspose-email-4.7.0-java
- aspose-imaging-2.1.0.0-java
- aspose-ocr-2.0.0-java
- aspose-pdf-9.7.0-java
- aspose-slides-14.8.0-java
- aspose-tasks-7.3.0-java
- aspose-words-14.11.0-java

Both the result sheet and input documents (zip) are attached for your reference. Waiting for your feedback.

Hi Wahaj,

We are investigating your documents and will update you soon.

Best Regards,

Hi Wahaj,

Sorry for the delay. Can you please also share the complete process you are following? Are you using other APIs to convert to PDFs and then using Aspose.Pdf to convert to other compliance levels (A1-a, A2-a, A3-a etc.) or are you using individual APIs to convert to PDF-A directly?

Best Regards,

Hi Ijaz,

We first convert the non-PDF document into PDF document using the Aspose different libraries e.g. Aspose Word, Aspose cell based on the document type and then use the converted PDF document into PDF/A with different compliance level (A1-a, A2-a etc).

Best Regards,

Hi Wahaj,

Thanks for your feedback. We are testing your described scenario with above mentioned JARs and will update you our findings as soon as possible.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Hi Wahaj,

We are sorry for the delayed response. We have converted your shared File formats to PDF using related Aspose JARs and later converted these PDF to PDFA standards. However We noticed that on Windows Platform only XLS, PPT and PPTX are failing some PDFA standards. So we have logged investigation tickets in our issue tracking system as following. We will notify you as soon as these are resolved.

Windows
File Format PDFA2a PDFA2b PDFA3b
XLS PDFNEWJAVA-34868 PDFNEWJAVA-34870 PDFNEWJAVA-34871
PPT PDFNEWJAVA-34872 PDFNEWJAVA-34869 PDFNEWJAVA-34873
PPTX PDFNEWJAVA-34874 PDFNEWJAVA-34875 PDFNEWJAVA-34876

Moreover, please note we will share Linux results with you soon.

Best Regards,

Hi Wahaj,

Thanks for your patience. We have tested the scenario over Linux and noticed same File Formats and PDFA standards failed to pass PDFA validation, those failed over Windows OS. So we have logged following tickets in our issue tracking system for further investigation and rectification. We will keep you updated about the issue resolution progress within this forum thread.

Hi Wahaj,

Thanks for your feedback. It is good to know that most of the scenarios are working now.

As stated above, We are only able to notice issue with XLS, PPT and PPTX. We will appreciate it if you please share your sample code used for CSV, ODT and ODS conversions. As I am unable to replicate the problem on Linux.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
