We are experiencing layout discrepancies when converting a Microsoft Word document (.docx) to PDF using Aspose. The same source document, when converted using another (Word-based) tool, produces a PDF that exactly matches the original DOCX layout, whereas the Aspose-generated PDF shows noticeable layout changes.
Source Document
- File:
2025 NQTLCA.docx - Document type: Regulatory / report-style document
Observed Issue
When converting the DOCX to PDF using Aspose:
- Table column widths change
- Pagination differs from the original Word document
- Page breaks occur at different positions
- Overall visual layout does not match Microsoft Word’s output
However, when the same DOCX is converted using another tool (likely Word or Word-based rendering), the resulting PDF:
- Preserves table structure
- Maintains identical pagination
- Matches header/footer placement
- Is visually identical to the original DOCX
Expected Behavior
We expect the PDF generated by Aspose to:
- Closely (ideally exactly) match the layout produced by Microsoft Word
- Preserve table widths, pagination, and spacing
- Maintain header/footer positions across sections
- Avoid text reflow or layout reconstruction differences
This is especially critical because the document is compliance/regulatory-related, where visual fidelity and pagination accuracy are mandatory.
Actual Behavior
Aspose appears to:
- Recalculate layout during conversion
- Reflow tables and text
- Apply different font metrics or table auto-fit logic
- Produce a structurally correct but visually different PDF
