Requesting support for Code 128-AB

Hi,

we have a requirement where we need to support CODE128-AB barcode (this is specifically used in NZ POST).
We tried to verify with code 128 , but it did not provide the barcode in supported format where they can scan it. so we are reaching out to you .
Could you please let us know if there is an existing way how we can generate the code 128AB format barcode with the current existing formats. If it cannot be supported, could you create an enhancement request to support it ?

Could you please share a sample CODE128-AB barcode image. We will check your requirements.

Code128 does not have CODE128-AB. A/B/C is just encoding modes in Code128 barcode standard. Encoded mode of Code128 is selected automatically with the best data compaction.

Thanks for the barcode sample images and specifications document.

I checked using your sample barcodes and mostly (online) barcode scanners detect as Code128. Could you please share if any (existing) online barcode reader (tool/API) detects it as CODE128-AB, give details and URL?

Ok, Got it, all message is encoded in CodeSetA:
{SubType = CodeSetA, Codetext = “ENWAC 00050013529”}

I think we need to add codeset selection for Code128 encoder as an encoder extension.

We use fonts only for text generation under barcode.
