Roadmap: Export MapInfo files

We have a requirement to produce MapInfo (TAB) files using T-SQL database and spacial types.

We have used the feature to export Shapefiles, but the data in question is quite large and has some long field names. Shapefiles in particular do not work well in this case.

Ideally we would produce a MapInfo files instead to get around those limitations.
However, there does not appear to be a feature to export data using MapInfo format even though Aspose.GIS supports importing of MapInfo.

My question is, do you intend to support exporting data in MapInfo format and where does that fit on your roadmap?

Kind regards,
Damian

Hello, @jprince,

Thank you for your interest in the Aspose.GIS product.

Unfortunately, by the moment Aspose.GIS has no option to export data in MapInfo(TAB) format. We will include this feature in the roadmap and start to work shortly. We have created a ticket GISNET-527.

Also, we are going to add the preprocessing of fields during the exporting to any formats. This feature allows you to rename and exclude fields. We will implement this feature in one of the next releases and update you here as soon as additional information is available. We have created a ticket GISNET-528.

Thanks.

Hello, @jprince,

Writing to MapInfo (TAB) format (GISNET-527) was implemented in Aspose.GIS for .NET 20.05. However, it is possible writing only for the WGS84 Spatial Refernce System (SRS). We are going to allow specifying any SRS for MapInfo TAB layer. We have created a ticket GISNET-539.

Conversion with Attributes Adjustment was extended (GISNET-528). Now Aspose.GIS allows you to rename long fields during export. Please, take a look at this Example.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any other issues or difficulty using the product.
