Hi
My application runs in java environment in solaris.
My application got rtf templates and I need to convert to either doc or pdf.
Can you please suggest whether I can use aspose to do this conversion ?
I just explored the features of aspose.word and it got the features I expect like
header footer, insert pages, etc.
But the problem I face is my file is in rtf format and I could not create a Aspose Document with rtf.
Also I explored Aspose.pdf which got the header footer and concat pdf pages,
If you can suggest any aspose api which convert rtf to Word document /PDF
Thanks in advance
Hi
Thank you for your interest in Aspose.Words for java. Unfortunately RTF format is not supported by Aspose.Words for java. Currently we work on DOCX import (saving in DOC already supported). We plan to finish this work somewhere in Q4 2008. after finishing this works we will work on other formats.
Also Aspose.Words for java doesn’t support PDF format yet.
We are planning the complete reengineering of PDF module in .Net baseline. Only after the reengineering PDF module will be ported to Java. Hopefully this feature will be supported in Q4 2008 or Q1 2009. But I can’t promise anything.
As a workaround you can try using Aspose.Words for .NET. Aspose.Words for .NET supports much more features and formats. See the following link to learn more about formats supported by .NET version of Aspose.Words:
https://docs.aspose.com/words/net/supported-document-formats/
Best regards.
Hi Alexey,
Thanks a lot for your quick reply,
As you mentioned “Currently we work on DOCX import” - Meaning the Rtf can be saved as word document ?
If RTF content can be imported to a word document then please let me know if you have any beta version of Aspose.word for me to try out.
I have been waiting for this feature for a long time.
Thanks and Regards

Hi
No, this means that currently Aspose.Words can only save document in DOCX format but can’t open documents in DOCX format. And currently we work on porting DOCX module from .NET version because DOCX format is most required than RTF.
RTF is not supported in java version of Aspose.Words at all. Only .NET version supports this format.
Best regards.
Hi,
Is there any Aspose.wrd/Aspose.PDf support the conversion from RTF format to PDF?
Thanks and Regards

Hi
Thanks for your request. We already finished work on DOCX module in java version of Aspose.Words. Currently we work on porting bug fixes from .NET base line. So the next java release will not include any new file formats. It will include only fixes.
Afterward we will work on porting RTF and WML modules from .NET baseline.
I can’t give you any estimate regarding PDF at the moment. Reengineering of this module is not finished yet.
Best regards.
We are happy to tell you that the new version of Aspose.Words for Java was released. Support of Rtf and Odt formats were added in this release!
