Setting the ALT-Text of a Table in Powerpoint

Hello there,

quick question, as noted in your documentation, one should use the ALT-Text of Powerpoint Shapes to identify them in with the Slides.API. I’d like to that for a table I inserted in Powerpoint, but Powerpoint does not give me the option to do so. Is it at all possible, or do I have to open the Presentation in Slides and set the ALT-Text there, which would make the whole matter kind of complicated.

Thank you for your support.

Hello,

Yes, PowerPoint can’t set alternative text for Tables and Group shapes. Aspose.Slides allows to do it but reaction of PowerPoint is unpredictable. In theory, PowerPoint can simply remove this text when save presentation.

There are 2 other possible workarounds. You can use Shape.Name and Shape.Tags. They can be set in PowerPoint but through VBA only.

May be the most simple is search table by text in a cell? I don’t think you have many tables on a slide.
