Size limitation and memory consumption

Hi Team,

We are using Apose.Words for report generation but we faced an issue that the Word file size is limited at 512MB and the Aspose.Words’ memory consumption is quite huge – 40 times as the actual DOCX file size according to your forum answer.

So now we wonder if the limitation still exists in Aspose.PDF and if the memory consumption is still so high to generate a PDF report. We have the need to generate GBs level PDF. How much memory will we need when generating a 10GB PDF file?

@windpine
There is no obvious, declared limitation on the size of the created Pdf file, but for such sizes difficulties are possible. And yes, you will need a lot of memory. Perhaps this will be compensated by frequent calls to the garbage collector and the use of virtual memory (swap file) - but this will greatly affect performance.
What kind of reports do you create, what do they contain (a lot of text, images, some kind of formatting)?

Mostly, the report contains lot of images.

So do we know a rough number of how much memory consumed ? and does Aspose.PDF provide any virtualized solution to enhance the memory consumption? We don’t care much about the generation time (performance) under this situation.

I’ll appreciate if you can provide more detail about this because we’re looking for an alternative to generate a large PDF costing less memory rather than use the high memory-consuming Aspose.Words to generate a DOCX.

@windpine
All this greatly depends on the content and the resources of the system on which the file will be generated.
I think the best solution would be to try it with a temporary license, which will allow you to evaluate the capabilities of the product specifically for your case.
