Spreadsheet with form controls

Hi Guys,
We are using Aspose.Cells product in our web application. Now we are planning to give functionality to design spreadsheet in Browser (IE, Mozilla), and the main focus in designing is to allow the users to drag-n-drop FORM CONTROLS (like button, checkbox, dropdown) on spreadsheet. Then with the help of Aspose.Cells this spreadsheet save on server along with FORM controls. And that SAVED spreadsheet is should be able to open in MSExcel.

I know right now the Aspose.Cells do not have the ability of Form Controls BUT do you have any future planning to write this in component, any specific date would be great for us to schedule.

Regards,
Awais

Hi Awais,

Aspose.Cells is a spreadsheet library/component used to create, manipulate or convert Excel files (XLS, XLSX etc.). It does not provide any interface. Regarding your query to create form controls in spreadsheet, the library supports this feature, please see the document for your complete reference on how to add button, combo box, check box or other form controls or drawing objects in the spreadsheet:

Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for your posting and using Aspose.Cells family products.

I am afraid, we do not have any plans in near future for implementing such a GUI based control.

As a workaround, you can provide user some sort of interface for placing controls on web pages and then create these controls on your spreadsheet using Aspose.Cells.

Also, there is another similar control namely Aspose.Cells for GridWeb. Please also take a look at it and see if it could fit your requirements.

You can find samples in GridWeb documentation and GridWeb offline demos.

  1. Documentation - Aspose.Cells.GridWeb
  2. Offline C# Demos - Aspose.Cells.GridWeb

Thanks Shaleel,

Yes we are using WebGrid in our application and happy with its current functionality.

Anyways please do let us know if you plan to give GUI for adding Form Controls in browser using WebGrid.

Thanks again,
Awais

Hi,

Thanks for your posting and considering Aspose.

Hi,

Thanks for considering Aspose APIs.

For your issue logged as CELLSNET-40897, please download and try the following control.

Please note, this control is shipped with Aspose.Cells for .NET (Documentation), so you don’t have to purchase it separately.

Please feel free to ask any question relating to GridWeb in Aspose.Cells forum. We will look into it and help you asap.
