Hello Aspose team!
I’ve downloaded your PDF renderer for SSRS demo and I’ve run into a problem. The renderer works good when I’m going to Export -> PDF via Aspose.Pdf, but when I’m trying to subscribe to the report and choose PDF via Aspose.Pdf as a Renderer Format all I’m getting is a blank page.
As subscribing to PDF reports is a common action I’m surprised that it doesn’t work with Aspose. Is it me doing something wrong?
Thanks.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for using our products.
As per my understanding, when you are using Aspose.Pdf for Reporting Services with SQL Report Server or MS ReportViewer in local mode, the .RDL is properly being converted to PDF format.

Can you please share some further details on how we can replicate this scenario. We are sorry for your inconvenience.
PS, If the issue is occurring for any particular file, please share the report as well.
Hello Nayyer Shahbaz
We’ve tested the PDF renderer on our staging server with the actual piece of our software and we’ve found the following problem:
When using a custom reporting item that has a picture on it and saving it to PDF using Aspose PDF renderer an empty PDF file is being saved.
I’m attaching an actual .rdl and the dlls that we’re using. What we do is we’re placing the dlls to the Visual Studio’s PrivateAssemblies folder and then open the .rdl and run it.
Might as well put the dlls to the Report Server’s bin folder and upload the .rdl to the /reports section.
Either way you’ll be able to run the report and see the problem for yourself.
We’re still using the trial version of your PDF renderer so if you can’t reproduce the problem using the full version try that.
Thank you,
Alex.
Hi Alex,
Thanks for contacting support.
I am testing this scenario and will get back to you soon.
Hi Alex,
I have tried replicating the scenario by following the instructions specified over [How to Deploy Custom Report Item] and I am afraid I am unable to test the report. Can you please share the information regarding the configuration required in Rsreportdesigner.config and Rsssrvpolicy.config files. We are sorry for this inconvenience.
Hello Nayyer Shahbaz
The configuration on my computer is the following (I realize that things concerning Visual Studio are probably redundant but will still include them):
- PortalViewerCRI.dll and PortalViewerDesigner.dll are copied to the "c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin" folder as well as to the "c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies" folder;
- Changes made to "c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\rssrvpolicy.config" :
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
- Changes made to "c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQLServer\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\rsreportserver.config " and to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\RSReportDesigner.config":
--------------------------------------------------------------
...
<ReportItem Name="PortalViewer" Type="Microsoft.Samples.ReportingServices.PortalViewerCustomReportItem,PortalViewerCRI"/>
</ReportItems>
<ReportItemDesigner>
<ReportItem Name="PortalViewer" Type=" Microsoft.Samples.ReportingServices.PortalViewerDesigner, PortalViewerDesigner" />
</ReportItemDesigner>
</Extensions>

Hi Alex,
Please accept our apologies for the delay. We are looking into the issue and will get back to you soon.
