Is it possible to build and run Aspose.Words for C++ on Linux (x86 and x64)? The website isn’t clear which platforms the library is available on.
Currently, Aspose.Words for C++ API only supports Microsoft Windows. But, we are going to add support for Linux and macOS (and iOS) platforms in future. Your thread has been linked to appropriate issue (WORDSCPP-865) and you will be notified as soon as it is supported. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Please elaborate your requirement a bit further and provide following information:
- What Linux distributions (Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04, Fedora, etc.) do you want Aspose.Words for C++ API to support?
- Please also share the platforms information e.g x64, arm, arm64, etc.
- And which compiler version and C++ standard library do you want to get support for e.g. gcc 6.4.0, clang 3.9, libstdc++ and/or libc++
Regarding WORDSCPP-865, please note that this issue has been resolved and now latest (20.9) version of Aspose.Words for C++ API supports Linux operating system.
Starting from the 20.9 version, we are beginning to publish the Linux version of Aspose.Words for C++ API. The minimum required version of compilers are the following:
- GCC 6.3 or higher
- Clang 3.9.1 or higher
Aspose.Words for C++ currently supports only the x86_x64 platform, but we may add other architectures to the future releases upon customer requirements.
P.S. It is the first version for Linux, so there may be artifacts and differences in behavior from both the Windows version of Aspose.Words for C++ and Aspose.Words for .NET. We continue to work on improving the product and adding features from .NET.
Would like to use this library in a cross-platform application, including macOS as well.
@jkwang If you are not limited to use C++ only, you can use Aspose.Words for Java or Aspose.Words .NET Standard version in cross-platform applications.
Regarding WORDSCPP-865, we are pleased to inform you that it is now possible to build and run Aspose.Words for C++ on Linux (x86 and x64). Please upgrade to the latest (21.1) version of Aspose.Words for C++ and use the Linux package.
