I have implemented a Table of Contents in a large report that has a section that repeats over and over (about 90 times and esch section usually spans an entire page). The item I added to the TOC is the title of the section which changes each time the section repeats. The table of Contents is generated and I have an entry in it for each repeating section with the correct name but the page number for every table of content entry displays the page # of the first occurance of the section rather than being different for each section as it should be and the hyperlink for every TOC item directs to the first occurance as well. Does the Table of Contents work with repeating items?
Hello Kevin,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Thanks for considering Aspose.
Can you please share the RDL file so that we can test the issue at our end.
Sure, here it is.
Hello Kevin,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Thanks for sharing the resource file. We are looking into the details of this problem and soon you will be updated with the status of correction.
Can I get an update on this, we have a number of clients that are waiting on a resolution. Is there anything we can provide to help expedite the process?
Sorry for so late response.
We are anyalying the error you described. Currently we think it may be caused by the Pdf kernel,on which Aspose Pdf for RS depends.
And we are debugging it and try our best to fix it ASAP.
Any further updates on this? I really need to give my clients an idea of when it may be fixed.
Thanks,
Kevin
Hi,
As described in previous post, the bug is caused by the kernel of Pdf engine, and we have meet some difficulties in resolving the bugs about TOC with repeating secition.
So it would take us some to fix that.
Sorry for your inconvenience!
Hi,
Without the datasource used in your report, we have to design a new report almost as the same as your report in style, but we could not make sure that it would account for your requirment.
So would you like provide the PDF file exported by Aspose.Pdf for RS?
Considering your secret or privacy, you can send mail to me with attachment.
Thanks a lot.
I am checking with my end client on the sensitivity of the data in the report. If I can’t send it as is I should be able to do some cleansing on it. What address should I send it to?
Hi Kevin,
You can make this post private and then attach your files. You can also click Shawn’s name and then click ‘Email’ to send mail to Shawn.
Thank you,
Shawn I emailed you the PDF could you please confirm that you recieved it?
Thanks again,
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
Sorry for so late reply.
Yes, I have received your email with attachment, and I have sent receipt to you.
According to your description, I have some questions to ask:
1. Does the section you described refer to the row content of List in RS?
2. The requirement you expected is that the page number displaying in ToC should be different because the linked content is in different page. Do you agree on that?
Thanks Shawn,
For your first question, yes by section I mean one of the repeating elements that is in a RS List. In our example it is a textbox that is the header for a section of salary infromation, the textbox is one of the labels (the title of the position) for the section which also includes a bunch of tabular data about the position. This list displays 75 different job positions.
On your second question, yes I would epect that the page number shown in the table of contents refers to the page that the job position is found on, I also would expect that clicking on it would take me to the correct page of the report. Currently as you can see from the example, all of the different Job Titles are displayed in the correct order, but the page number is always the same (the page of the first job title) and the htyperlink always takes you to that page.
Can you let me know if you are making any progress on this. If I do not have something soon, I am going to need to figure out a different way to accomplish this.
Thanks,
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
I have communicated with the developer of Aspose.Pdf. They are analysing the bug and would evluate the time. If any result, I will inform you ASAP.
Is there anyway you can definatively let me know if/when this can be fixed. In a few days it will be 4 weeks since I initially reported the issue and I need to decide if I can wait for a fix or will need to spend a fair amount of time and money on an alternative solution.
Thanks,
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
Sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced. We have found the solution. The hotfix will be provided in this week.
Hi Kevin,
We have fixed the bug PDFREP-10166,you can download the hotfix for SSRS2005 in attachment.
Please try it.
Sorry for your inconvenience!
THanks Shawn,
That appears to have fixed the problem. I have a quick related question that I have not been able to find an answer for yet in any of the documentation. The Aspose.PDF.ListSectionStyle.XML file would seem to indicate that the table of contents can have multiple levels each with their own margin, font size, etc. If that is true how do I specify the level I want a particular SSRS report item to appear at?
Thanks again,
Kevin
