ThreadAbortException on call to Aspose.Pdf.Generator.Pdf.Save(String fileName- SaveType saveType- HttpResponse response)

Hi,

I have a user control (.NET 4.0 using Aspose.Pdf for .NET v9.4.0) which attempts to convert the current rendered html to a pdf file.
Works on local dev machine but not on the server as it throws a ThreadAbortException.
The user control is placed on a page in the CMS (Umbraco v6)
I have deployed the dll file “Aspose.Pdf.dll” to the bin folder on the server, any other files require deployment to the server? (Sorry new user of Aspose.Pdf so not sure if I have missed anything)

Any ideas what is causing this error?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your inquiry. The problem probably occurs because of operation timeout. Are you getting same issue with other pages, while convert to Pdf? Please increase executionTimeout property of IIS server. Hopefully your issue will be resolved. If issue persist then please share a sample project here to replicate the issue? So we will look into it and will provide you more information.

Hi,

I still received the ThreadAbortException with a higher timeout, I also changed the compilation debug attribute to true so timeout would not be an issue but this did not resolve the problem.

I also realized that locally on my dev PC that although the PDF was created it still threw the ThreadAbortException!

So I created a new project ‘ASP.NET Empty Web Site’ .NET Framework 4 with a single button and in its click event is the code below, and yet I still get the ThreadAbortException!

Is this a bug in v9.4?
Should I use an older version?

Thanks for your feedback. I have tested the scenario over my PC using Aspose.Pdf for .NET 9.4.0 and VS2010, as suggested above. But I am afraid I am unable to replicate the issue, sample project is enclosed here for reference. We will appreciate if you please share your sample project here to replicate the issue.

Hi,

I have made some progress on this, the save method …

pdf.Save(fileName, Aspose.Pdf.Generator.SaveType.OpenInBrowser, this.Response);

throws the exception ThreadAbortException but still opens the pdf file in IE & Chrome but not in Firefox, the attached solution is the same as mine except I have included a try catch to email any exceptions.
