TotalSlak Always 0 When Reading From .MPP File

I noticed that I am always getting 0 from the property of TotalSlak. Not sure if this is something that you are currently working on or maybe the typo in the property name, should be TotalSlack, is the source of the problem.

Hi,

Unfortunately we don’t calculate the Task’s TotalSlack values when read data from MPP files.

I have added a new issue ‘Read TotalSlack values from MPP file.’ with ID = 16531 and linked it to this forum thread.

As some investigation is required here we can not provide you with the planning issue’s resolution date just now.

Sorry for inconvenience.

Sergey,

Is there an update on resolving this issue? This is a show stopper for me using your product since it is a critical field needed for my application

Hi,

Sorry for delay, the feature is under development now. We are going to resolve it in our July release (end of this month).

Sorry for inconvenience.

The issues you have found earlier (filed as 16531) have been fixed in this update.

Some of the TotalSlack values are not being calculated and I have not found a pattern as to why that might be.

Could you double check that it matches what MSProject displays or send me the logic that you use to calculate it. I wonder if this is an issue with default values from MSProject that can be creating these issues.

Plus there are some more calculated fields I need before I can really use this product

  • StartVariance
  • FinishVariance

Plus is it possible to have a list of all the fields that are currently supported and a possible ECD of the fields currently unavailable? Currently your descriptions of the properties advertise as if they are provided accurately when in fact they are not, like the StartVariance and FinishVariance

Hi,

We are going to add some additional tests for TotalSlack calculation to our testing engine. Now all added tests are passed correctly. May be the project data is not recalculated in the files or damaged? We have to wait the additinal tests’ results.

I have added a new issue ‘Read StartVariance and FinishVariance for tasks and resource assignments from MS Project 2003/2007/2010 MPP files.’ with ID = 18893 and linked to this forum thread. We are going to resolve the issue in August’s release (end of this August).

You can read information about properties’ reading formats currently supported from Aspose.Tasks for .NET Documentation chm file in your Aspose.Tasks installation folder Help subfolder. See a screen shot attached. But the information is not provided on our web site. So I have created a new issue ‘Update Aspose.Tasks .NET Web documentation in part of data reading support for different file formats.’ with ID = 18894 and linked it to this forum thread too.

Unfortunately we can not provide you with the information when all project’s fields and properties reading support will be added just now, but we are working hard in this direction. For example, in our last release the support for 21 project’s common properties was added. You can provide us with a list of all values you need and we’ll put them in our high priority list.

Sorry for inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.

The issues you have found earlier (filed as 18893) have been fixed in this update.

Hi Chris,

Reading TotalSlack and FreeSlack currently is supported for MS Project 2007/2010 MPP files. You can check it with the latest Aspose.Tasks version here. Let us know if you have any problem with it.

Reading the values from MS Project 2003 MPP files is still under development. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The issues you have found earlier (filed as ) have been fixed in this Aspose.Words for JasperReports 18.3 update.
