Unable to read unicode characters correctly from comments

Hello,

It seems that for an example scandinavian characters in comments/notes are not read right. For an example "ä" comes out as "d". Is it possible to fix this? Writing them works great - they appear correctly in Excel (and OpenOffice Calc). But when trying to read them back, they are "corrupted".
