Viewing document in web browser

I’ve spent the last couple hours looking over Aspose.Words for .NET and have found a lot of code that satisfies many of the coding requirements I need, but there are other areas that I am not finding any answers for.

I’m building a system for my company and have been looking around for a solution to the following:

I need to be able to generate a word doc that contains template fields using coding logic.

Once this new document is created, it needs to save to our server.

An employee needs to be able to see this template document in a browser, fill in various fields and data, and save/post these modifications back to the server.

I’ve found plenty of code that shows how to create word document and automatically open them on my computer. But I need to know if the documents can be opened in some sort of web based word editing screen that allows communication between the document on the server and the employee at his computer. The interface doesn’t need to be MS Word, but it needs to have the normal features of any text editing software.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Hello

Thanks for your interest in Aspose products. Aspose.Words is a class library for processing Word documents programmatically, it does not provide user interface for editing your documents. Of course you can create your own user interface for editing documents and use Aspose.Words in underline level, but I think it will require a lot of efforts from your end.
Best regards,

I saw a page on the aspose website earlier (I am looking very hard to find it now) that apparently looked like a word editing interface; it looked almost exactly like word 2003

I saw it before I posted my message on here, and I can not find it now, even after digging through my history.

Do you have any idea what interface I’m talking about?

Hello

Thanks for your request. You mean Aspose.Editor. Unfortunately Aspose.Editor product is discontinued starting 24th August 2009. Please see the following link for more information
https://purchase.aspose.com/policies/
Best regards,

Do you know why the Editor was discontinued?

From what I saw, it appeared to be exactly what I’m looking for. I’m not too interested in all the word doc generation features, as I am already able to do these things using WordML.

The next option, TX Text Control, appears to be fairly unstable; the demos don’t function properly, not to mention many features only work in IE

Is there any possibility of being able to download the Aspose.Editor trial?

Hello

Thanks for your inquiry. Aspose.Editor has not been commercially viable for us. In the interest of both Aspose and our customers, we have decided to discontinue this product. As I mentioned Aspose.Editor was discontinued about a year ago. So, unfortunately there is no way to get this product.
Best regards,

Hi Barry,

Just to complete my answer. Aspose.Editor worked only in IE. It did not work in other browsers at all.
Best regards,
