Website Issues

I could not find an appropriate forum to post this issue - so I have put it in this one - please feel free to move it to the correct place.

Since you have upgraded aspose.com recently, we have have no end of troubles with the website. These issues are listed below in order of importance.

  1. The site is very slow. Page loads average around 5 - 10 seconds and some take more like 30 - 60.
  2. Sometimes the pages do not load at all - quoting a web.config error. (pushing F5 usually fixes this)
  3. Posting messages on the forum sometimes simply reloads the post message page without the typed message (very frustrating) (some machines in the office cannot post at all)
  4. Viewing the preview of a reply you have written - the post appears blank. I do not know if the post would come out blank. (Again, seems more prevalent on some machines than others, but affects all)
  5. When searching for previous issues on the forum - clicking the next page button simply reloads the first page. I have even manually put in &page=2 into the querystring but this just gets removed and page 1 is displayed again. (once again, more common on some machines than others, but happens to all)
  6. Website was totally down about 12 hours ago for over 2 hours.

All our machines are exactly the same - they are all the same spec with exactly the same software installed. We do not experience any errors on any other websites at all.

Thank you very much.

Hi Greg,

Thank you very much for your report. I hope somebody from our Web team will reply to you quickly.

Dear Greg,

Sorry for the site behavior and thank you for your report! Since we have been moving the site to the new server, you might get the "yellow pages" when we were in the process of fixing something. Hope this won't be the case in future.

We are very concerned about your site performance report because the site performance was one of the major points that made us move it to a different server. Could you please be a bit more specific about the "slow site"? Could you send us a couple of URLs that take too long (>5 or even >30 secs) for any of your computers to open?

It would also help us a lot if you could provide us with the forum urls that have their navigation behave badly.

Hope we'll resolve this together as soon as possible.

I have just typed out a reply - clicked “post” and it simply reloaded the reply page and lost my post! I cannot tell you how frustrating it is.

Many thanks,

Greg Pakes

With regards to the page loading issues, they are generally throughout the entire site. The areas least affected are the wiki, api and the blog. The areas most affected are the main page, products, forum and the downloads page.

Something that would assist me in giving you loading times would be if you started a timer on the page load and closed it when the page closes and wrote a comment at the bottom of the page: eg: . This would allow me to be alot more accurate.

With regards to the searching issues - these are on almost all the search pages. for example:

Free Support Forum - aspose.com

This page is now working for me - but this does not mean that it is fixed as it was working for me yesterday, but did not work for 1/2 an hour this morning.

Kind Regards

Dear Greg,

Thank you for the information. Regarding the search issue- could you tell me, once it happens (i.e. after you click on prev/next and it does not work reloading the same page), does it start working after you attempt to navigate to a different page for the second time?

Re. loading times - you see, the <!-- stuff may not help you since it would identify SERVER page generation times, which are of course less than your page loading times since they do not take any kind of internet connection into account.

We'll be investigating these issues. Should the situation change on your side (i.e. search works better etc), please let us know.

Dear Greg,

As i have shared in <A href="</FONT></A><FONT face=Arial size=2>, we have made a number of changes related to lost 'POST' data and search result navigation..</FONT></P> <P><FONT face=Arial size=2>Could you please tell us if it helped in your case or not. Any feedback is appreciated.</FONT></P>

I will keep my eye out for you.

Once again the site was down for an extended period of time last night (13 hrs ago).

Page load times seem not to have improved. They vary alot (not page to page, but time to time) but can NEVER be described as fast or even reasonable.

Thanks

Thank you for sharing the feedback. Performance optimization and search engine have been the top priorities for the web team. We will keep you posted about the latest progress.
