Xml issue

Attached is a xml file Published by Aspose.Tasks 2009 for .NET 5.5.0.0. when the file is opened in MSP 2010 or 2013 all is good, but when it is saved as a MPP file then reopened in MSP all of the resources are set to the last name on the resource sheet. My only thought is that there is something going on in the xml file generated by ASPOSE, but I can’t find it. any help that you can provide would be very much appreciated

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for contacting support.

I would like to share that currently Aspose.Tasks for .NET 6.2.0 is released, which contains many of the upgrades, enhancements and bug fixes. Could you please verify the issue using this latest release and let us know your feedback?

If still issue is there, please send us the application which can be used here to re-produce the XML file. It will help us to analyze the problem and provide assistance as soon as possible.

Thanks Kahif. Was there a known issue with Tasks 5.5 and MS project? This will help me to know if the issue is buried further in the code or if just applying 6.2 will solve the problem.

.Tasks 3.8 worked fine with MSP 2003, but when we applied 5.5 we encountered the problem with MSP 2010 and 2013.

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

It is difficult to relate the enhancements and bug removals in latest release with the issue specific to your scenario without having the sample code. Could you please try your application using latest release in your environment and compare the results with the old release results? If the issue is not resolved with the latest release, send us the compilable application which can be used to create the XML here. It will help us to provide assistance as soon as possible.

Hi Kevin.

I have gone through the information provided by you but am afraid to inform that it cannot be used to re-produce the scenario here. Here a sample function is provided named “exportProject” written in VB.NET, however it cannot be executed as it is calling another function “CadenceProjectMaster.Export.MSProjectExport.Execute2” whose definition is not available.

I would like to share that the XML portion of your post referred as “ProjectMaster code” is not the actual VB.NET code and hence cannot be used to compile and execute the complete function.

Could you please send us the complete (compile-able) project containing definition of above mentioned function “CadenceProjectMaster.Export.MSProjectExport.Execute2” as it is must required to execute the code and re-produce the problematic XML project file as referred in your first post?

P.S. It seems you have posted your query twice, so please delete the repeated query.
Secondly I would also request you to place such lengthy text (the XML part) in some text file and attach it with the post as it increases the readability of the post and helps in analyzing the problem.

Sorry about the duplicate post. I have removed it. I'll look for the VB.net code that you are refering to and post it for your review.

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for removing the duplicate post. Once you can manage a sample runnable project that can be used to reproduce this issue at our end, please share that with us in the form of attachment files to this forum. We’ll investigate the issue based on the available data and assist you further.

I hope this is the file that you are referring to.

Thanks

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I have examined your provided file and found that it further refers to other files in addition to data from some SQL database source which makes it almost impossible for us to investigate the issue by reproducing it at our end. I have tried to reproduce the same issue at my end using the latest version of Aspose.Tasks for .NET 6.3.0 (that is released during the last week) by creating tasks and assigning resources to these, but I am afraid to share that I was not able to face any such issue at my end.

It seems that your project (that exhibits the issue) is quite large and depends on database as well for data population, I would request you to please try it with the latest version of Aspose.Tasks for .NET 6.3.0 by making a copy of your project and let us know your feedback. If the issue still persists, we need your assistance in reproducing at our end with the help of a sample running application for further investigation.

PS: You may get a 30-day temporary license free of cost for testing this issue with the latest version of Aspose.Tasks for .NET 6.3.0.

Hello Kashif,

We have installed the latest version and are testing it now. Initial tests are positive. I'll keep you posted on the final results.

Thanks for your help

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for providing the feedback.

It’s good to hear that the latest version of Aspose.Tasks is helping positively during your initial tests. In case you find any issue, I would request you to please report it in a separate thread along with some supported material (code, input and output files) for our reference. We’ll investigate it further by reproducing it at our end and assist you further.
