We have tried converting your source XPS to PDF with the latest version 17.11 of Aspose.Pdf for .NET API and managed to replicate the argument exception error in our environment. It has been logged under the ticket ID PDFNET-43801 in our bug tracking system. We have linked your post to this ticket and will keep you informed regarding any available updates.
The issues you have found earlier (filed as PDFNET-43801) have been fixed in Aspose.PDF for .NET 25.8.
