Conversion to jpeg- size issues

Hi,

We are converting from word (docx) and PDF to jpeg.
While the output of the word conversion is approx., 200KB per image, the PDF conversion is about 1MB per file.
Same settings (DPI etc.) used for both.
Any reason for this behavior?
