We have below requirement to generate ADA (American Disability Act) compliant PDF.
Problem: We are generating html structure programmatically having html tags like headings (h1 tags), tables, links, charts (svg tags), images (with alt text), paragraphs, etc. We are looking for a way to generate pdf from this html with same look and feel (including CSS style sheets). This PDF must also be ADA compliant (i.e. tagged pdf and user accessibility).
Below requirements must be met for User accessibility:
Headings are tagged to maintain document hierarchy.
Images/charts should be tagged with alternate text
Table row headers need to be tagged so that if the table is separated across 2 pages, it will still be recognized as part of one table
We need to know how can we generate ADA compliant pdf from this html.
Aspose.PDF offers functionality to generate Accessible PDF files as well as convert PDF to Tagged/Accessible PDF document. As far as functionality to generate ADA compliant PDF (Accessible PDF) directly from HTML is concerned, the feature is not supported at the moment. However, we do have plans to implement this support and for the purpose, a feature request with ID PDFNET-47523 has been logged in our issue tracking system.
We will surely investigate the feasibility of this feature and keep you informed with the status of its availability. Please be patient and spare us little time.
Regretfully, the earlier logged ticket is not yet resolved. We have recorded your concerns and will surely inform you as soon as the logged ticket is fixed. Please be patient and give us some time.
Your understanding is correct. Regretfully, the fix against the ticket has not been implemented in the API and is not available in the latest version also.
Regretfully, no other Aspose API offers the functionality to create ADA Compliant PDF from HTML. A feature request has been logged however for Aspose.Word but, this feature is not implemented yet. As far as the logged ticket is concerned, we will inform you once it is fixed.
This feature also needs to be investigated along with the earlier logged ticket (i.e. generate ADA Compliant PDF directly from HTML). An investigation ticket as PDFNET-49755 has been logged for this purpose and we will surely inform you as soon as it is resolved.
Regretfully, the earlier logged tickets have not been yet resolved due to their complexity and other issues in the queue. However, we have recorded your concerns and will surely update you in this forum thread as soon as some definite progress is made towards ticket resolution. Please spare us some time.
The ticket has been logged under the free support model where issues are resolved on a first come first serve basis. We are afraid that we cannot escalate the priority of the ticket to the highest level in order to get them resolved on an urgent basis. However, you can check our paid support option in case these tickets are a showstopper for you and you need to get them resolved on an urgent basis. We apologize for the inconvenience.
