Hi,

Thanks for your query.

I think you are talking about Aspose.Cells for RS product. Well, we have tested the product on SQL Server 2012, it works fine. Currently, you need to manually install the product (Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services) on SQL 2012.

Please Note:
We have already added the support in MSI Installer but it is not released yet. Once we will release a new version of Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services, we will let you know.

Please download and try the latest version (attached): Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services V1.8.0.64 (SSRS2008R2).

Please follow the following steps to manually install the Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services.

1. Copy Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.dll (SSRS2008R2) into

${SQL Server 2012 for Reporting Services}/ReportServer/bin/

2. Add security code in rssrvpolicy.config file.

3. Add extensions in rsreportserver.config

False
False

We have already logged a ticket SSRS-40066 for it so that you could also use its MSI Installer to automatically install the product on SQL Server 2012. We are scheduled to release our next official release of the product in November 2012 which will include this feature too.

Thank you.

Hi,

What is the use of Aspose.Cell.ReportingService.Client.dll? Is it for the report designer? Where should is be installed?

thanks

Hi,

Yes, it is a client tool which is installed as an MS Excel’s Add-ins, you may use it to design reports for your needs on the client end. See a document for reference:
http://www.aspose.com/docs/display/cellsreportingservices/Make+Use+of+Report+Designer+Client+Tool

Thank you.

Hi,

When doing a .DLL only install, what steps need to be done to enable the Aspose.Cells.Report.Designer tool to be available in Excel when using Excel to design reports? The documentation here:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

http://www.aspose.com/docs/display/cellsreportingservices/Using+DLL+Only

Describes how to install the engine, and here:
http://www.aspose.com/docs/display/cellsreportingservices/Integrating+Manually+with+Visual+Studio+2005+or+2008+Report+Designer

Describes how to integrate to Visual Studio – but the add in is not appearing in Excel.

Thanks

Hi,

Well, you need to to update the configuration for your Visual Studio, e.g Update the two configuration files (RSPreviewPolicy.config RSReportDesigner.config), refer to SSRS configuration files, see the topic:
http://www.aspose.com/docs/display/cellsreportingservices/Integrating+Manually+with+Visual+Studio+2005+or+2008+Report+Designer
But at the moment, we could not confirm if VS 2010 supports SSRS 2012 or not. We have logged a ticket with an id: SSRS-40076 for it and we will soon look into it.

Once we have any update on it, we will let you know here.

Thank you.

Hi,

Please try the fixed version: Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services (SSRS2008R2) V1.8.0.73.

It supports VS 2010 and SSRS 2012.

Please copy Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.dll into following folder:

${SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services}\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin.

Also, you can directly install it using MSI (installer) which you can download from this link:
Aspose.Cells
for Reporting Services v1.8.0.73 (MSI)

The issues you have found earlier (filed as SSRS-40076) have been fixed in this update.
