Barcode Failing To Preview In Visual Studio

Hi Steve,

Thank you for asking about these changes. Yes, these changes were covered in the config files that I provided. Anyway, you can also set an additional FullTrust in the very first “CodeGroup” tag. I have highlighted this option with a red rectangle in the attached screen shot. In case. it does not help then please share exact steps by which you are installing MS SQL Server 2012. I mean you can take screen shots of each step. It will help us to further investigate.

We’re looking forward to helping you.

Imram

Please see below response from my hosted server provider…
“We perform our default installation (Default Collation, all features excluding Documentation) and all data on the large partition (if they you have one). We would also complete the default instance name however in this instance they requested a specific name. We will not be able to document a SQL re-install with screen shots. However if you developer has a custom install that they require you could sent that to us and we could follow it."
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

Well, we don’t have a custom installation plan. I asked about screen shots because it will help us to replicate the actual problem on my end. Once we are able to replicate the error message then we can help you a bit more specifically.

Imran

Install screen shots attached. I had to go to a lot of trouble to get our server host to provide this information - please ensure that you provide a solution as a matter of urgency.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thank you for sharing these screenshots. I’m working to prepare another environment and it will take a little time. I shall get back to you in a couple of days.

Hi Steve,

Please accept our apologies for the delay. I would like to update you that I have prepared a new environment against the latest build of Aspose.BarCode for SSRS 6.0.0. I’m afraid, I could not reproduce this error message by exact SQL Server 2012 installation steps that you have shared. It seems still an environment issue at your end. Please try our latest version 6.0.0 and see if you can reproduce the error message. We’re looking forward to helping you.

Imran

I have tried with version 6.0.0 and I am still getting the same error. I have Team Viewer installed on the server, would it be possible for you to access the sever remotely and check the installation?

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your inquiry. I would like to update you that we believe it is not fruitful. Maybe this is an environmental problem on your computer. Have you tried to check this problem on another computer? You have shared in your earlier post that you have only a single production machine with SQL Server 2012 environment. Are you using the same server for development and production?

Steve Flynn:

Hi Imran
My sever hosting partner could not find any differences between our config file and yours. They then set up a second hosted server for me to use as a test environment. I have just installed aspose on the new server and got exactly the same error.

Steve

Imram. Refer to my post above. We have already tried setting up a second environment and got exactly the same problem.

imran.rafique:
Are you using the same server for development and production?

SQL and Visual Studio are installed on the same machine.

imran.rafique:
I would like to update you that we believe it is not fruitful.

Then please provide another solution because at the moment, the level of support you are providing is UNACCEPTABLE. How can you blame our environment when you refuse to access our server and verify the setup? I have followed all suggestions you have made thus far and we no closer to finding a solution.

Hi Steve,

I would like to update you that we believe it is not fruitful.

Please let me clarify this statement. In fact, in order to understand and then resolve the issue, we need to reproduce the issue at our end and then using the same information our product teams also need to reproduce the same issue at their end. This way we’re able to investigate, fix, and verify the issue. With Team Viewer or other such options, we can see the error – which we have already seen and understood from the previous discussion – but we’re not able to reproduce it at our end. That’s why any such efforts are not useful in our case. And that’s the reason we do not use them for support purposes.

Anyway, we’re further investigating this issue using the previous discussion to be able to reproduce the issue at our end. Please note that it is very important for us to reproduce the same issue over here. We’ll get back to you with further information soon.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for being patient. I’m able to reproduce this problem by updating ReportItem->Type attribute in RSReportDesigner.config. The type attribute is specified as Namespace.class,Assembly name. Please make sure that it holds a correct string as following:

Type=“Aspose.BarCode.ReportingServices.BarCodeReportItem,
Aspose.BarCode.ReportingServices”

The cause of error message seems to be a text mistake. I have attached my screenshots for your reference. Please also refer to the article. These steps are documented here:

http://www.aspose.com/docs/display/barcodereportingservices/Visual+Studio+Configuration

Please do let us know how it goes on your side.

Imran, the code in my config file appears to be correct. I have attached the file, can you please check that this is correct? Thanks, Steve.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, it looks perfect to me. I shared my findings because I could reproduce the same warning message by an incorrect string of the type attribute. It is quite possible that the error is same but the reason is different. We are further looking into the matter and will get back to you soon.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for being patient. I’m afraid. We could not reproduce this error message yet by any other way round. It will be so nice of you if you can prepare a sample VM which reproduces the issue on your side and then upload your VM on some online file sharing server e.g. Dropbox and let us know. We’ll further investigate your issue as soon as your VM is ready.

Apologies for the delay, I have been on holiday. Please can you explain what you mean by “VM”. Thanks.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for asking about the Virtual Machine (VM). A Virtual Machine is basically a program that acts as a virtual computer. There is a concept of “host” and “guest” operating systems. Your current operating system is known as the “host”. The guest operating systems run in windows on your host operating system, just like any other program on your computer. The guest operating system runs normally, as if it were running on a physical computer from the guest operating system’s perspective, the virtual machine appears to be a real, physical computer.

Please do let us know in case of further assistance or questions.

Imran. I’m not familiar with the process. Is there a free software tool I can use to do this?

Hi Steve,

Thank you for asking about the process. Please follow up these steps:

  1. Download Oracle VM VirtualBox. It is free for personal use.
  2. Once VirtualBox is installed, launch it. In this regard, please see this video.
  3. Hit “New” button on left upper corner.
  4. It will ask you to give your system a name.
  5. Enter a system name, select operating system and version.
  6. Hit “Next” button and adjust base memory (RAM) size.
  7. Select “create new hard disk” option.
  8. Hit “Next” button and select file format e.g. VHD
  9. Select storage details, Hit “Next” button
  10. Adjust storage size
  11. Hit “Next” button and see final details
  12. Hit “Create” button, please see this video.

Furthermore, when you’ll start this system, you will be asked to select installation media, e.g. ISO or CD of guest operating system. You just need to prepare an environment as usual, make sure to reproduce the issue on your end and then upload your VM on some online file sharing server e.g. Dropbox and let us know.
I hope, this helps. Please do let us know in case of any confusion or questions.

Imran. Apologies but I have misunderstood. I thought that this entailed copying an image of my current setup. Unfortunately, this isn’t something I can do, as our server is hosted at a datacentre and I don’t have installation media or license keys for either the operating system or SQL Server. Is it possible for you to inspect the environment via Team Viewer or another RDP tool? Thanks. Steve.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the information. Sure, we can now plan a session via the Team Viewer. Please do let us know your suitable timings covering time zone too. Meanwhile, I’ll install Team Viewer on my side.
